Where Silence Speaks: The Heart of Constellation Work – An Invitation

I have been exploring creativity and non-dual wisdom traditions since an early age, fascinated by the mysterious way thoughts and forms emerge. As an artist and seeker of truth, I have always been drawn to flow experiences — those moments when the sense of “doer-ship” dissolves.

This theme was at the heart of my Master’s paper, The Creative Process and Being with the Not-Knowing, written during my studies in Experiential and Creative Arts Therapy. One important learning from that time was the phenomenological approach: staying with what emerges, using descriptive words rather than conceptual or analytical language.

We can never fully capture an experience with words, but we can find approximations. In truth, from the mental plane, we don’t really know what anything is — though we often try to explain it. Describing essences rather than opinions lies at the heart of Systemic Constellations too, especially in the healing sentences.

In my groups, I invite us to slow down — to be fully present, to feel more deeply, and to let words fall away rather than cover over feelings. We peel back layers of interpretation, concept, and assumption to encounter reality as it shows itself. The silence between healing sentences is as essential as the silence between musical notes: without it, there is no music.

I have noticed how challenging this can feel for many participants. For some, who are used to busy lives and fast thinking, slowing down and meeting silence can initially feel unfamiliar — even uncomfortable — yet it often opens the door to deeper presence.
For others with a strong trauma history or PTSD, being in silence or stillness can be trauma triggering and may not be supportive. If that is the case, I invite you to contact me before joining, so we can explore together whether this kind of work feels right for you at this time.

Constellation work asks us to trust something deeper: our intuitive knowing, our innate primordial wisdom. With ongoing practice this ‘knowing’ deepens and becomes more spontaneous and effortless.

This exploration inspired me to offer an Introduction to Family Constellation course through Byron Community College earlier this year. I loved the experience and am happy to offer it again from 12th November – 3rd December. Bookings are through the College.

Like phenomenology, constellation work is an experiential doorway to our primordial wisdom, beyond words. The healing sentences act almost like phenomenological “reductions.” They strip away story, opinion, or judgment and can open us to the bare reality of what is — luminous, self-revealing.
